Start with the cargo's characteristics
The packaging plan should consider materials, vulnerable areas, dimensions, weight, transport method and transfers along the route. Distinguish between regularly and irregularly shaped items, and between stackable and non-stackable cargo.
Check packaging against the handling method
When using wooden crates or pallets, confirm compatibility with handling equipment, load-bearing points and securing methods. Appearance alone does not establish how well packaging protects the cargo. Exhibits requiring special packaging or lifting should be assessed by the service provider carrying out the work.
Make every item easy to identify
Labels should correspond to the cargo list, the specific exhibition and the destination venue. Check package counts and packaging condition before handover, and retain records according to the process agreed by both parties. Conceal customer and contact information in photographs intended for public use.
Plan for move-out
Confirm whether packing materials need to be recovered or stored, who will handle repacking, and whether the cargo will move to another destination. Set out the packaging service scope and charges separately in the plan.
